Some friends of mine asked me to help them with the re-painting of their swimming pool. I said "sure, why not?" I have no regrets, despite I thought I was gonna pass out a few hours into it! LOL! It was pretty warm yesterday and I found that chiseling with a pretty thick dust mask, safety glasses, plenty of sunshine, not enough water, and wearing mostly black clothing, made for a challenging activity! Clearly, I'm not as young or spry as I once was. I'm a bit out of shape, soft in the belly, and yeah, overweight, but dang!
As soon as the sun had gone down, chisel work completed, bottle of water consumed, cool water splashed on my face (two times), and a moment in the shade and cool of the garage, I was good to go. We patched up the pool floor and I learned how to have the perfect consistency of patch-it cement. It was amazing how easy it was to spread when the consistency was right! I learned a lot yesterday and will continue my learning today and tomorrow. I think all my woodworking projects out in the GDI shop have helped me become a proficient plaster-er of pools floors.
Not sure I plan to have a career in it! It is not the easiest work I have ever done, that's for certain. I'm excited to help out my friends and make a little cash in the meantime.
