Ekaparnika - My Hindu Name

So, yeah, I decided that when I am cooking Indian food, I am going to go by my Hindu name, Ekaparnika, which means "Goddess Durga." She is a ten armed goddess warrior, who is often seen riding a tiger or a lion, and is so radiant, you totally need really, really, really ridiculously dark shades to be in her presence. She rocked the world of a really bad demon dude, who underestimated her mad skills based on her femininity. I'm not a feminist, but that dude was crack-a-lackin' on somethin' for reals though!

At any rate, Ashwina and I were rolling out rotli on Saturday and had a blast! We were able to do some catching up and to talk about "the old days." :) I really miss seeing she and Todd, so I will have to make a greater effort to stay in contact. She only lives a few moments away from me for goodness sakes, there is no excuse!

I made a run to the Indian grocer over off El Camino and Lawrence and was able to get a few things I needed. I needed a new valun, and I picked up some henna while I was there, as well as a few spoons for my spices and such. I can't wait to put my new "aakario" (the thingy you roll out the rotli on) to good use! I should be done constructing and curing it in about a week from today!!!
